Timeslips Tip of the Month

Creating Client Custom Fields can help you to filter and sort your data.

An example of a Client Custom Field could be Project Manager, by assigning a Project Manager to each Client you can easily filter and sort reports based on this field.

To create a Client Custom Field called Project Manger follow these steps.

  1. Go to Setup, Custom fields
  2. Under the Client tab click on New, then select a Type – this can be Text, Date etc. In this example you will select Timekeeper as your Project Managers names will already be setup in the Timekeeper list. In Field Name enter the name for the new custom field. 
  3. Once you click on Ok you can set the field to be required, this is a good idea as it ensures this data is filled in when you setup new Clients. 
  4. Now when you open Client Information you will see a Custom tab, behind general 
  5. Next time you run a report and you only want records for a particular Project Manager you can select that field from the filter list.
